(Rockville, MD)  – More than 100 Montgomery County teens attended a Town Hall meeting with the County Council last night to discuss a possible curfew for young people-. Most teens spoke out against the bill, which was proposed by County Executive Ike Leggett after several recent fights and robberies involving teens. The measure would require anyone under the age of 18 to be home before 11 p.m. on weekdays and midnight on weekends. Supporters say imposing the curfew would help to prevent violence by and toward young people and would also address gang activity. Opponents say a curfew may target minorities would not be needed with an effective police presence.
