(Washington, DC)  — There were minor injuries reported in the Washington, DC area following yesterday’s earthquake centered in Mineral, Virginia.   DC Fire and EMS spokesman Pete Piringer says the department received more than two-thousand calls for service in the two hours after the quake.  The earthquake did damage some area buildings, including Washington National Cathedral, which lost three pinnacles from the top of the tower.  In the aftermath of the quake, Metro slowed trains and personnel began track inspections along the rail system.  Meanwhile the Virginia Department of Transportation says there are no reports of road or bridge damage and crews are continuing their inspections.
