(Montclair, CA) — Bethany Baptist Church in the Los Angeles area describes itself as a “family-oriented” congregation. Associated Baptist Press says the church is reeling following the news that its 53-year-old music minister was caught by police in the act of molesting a 15-year-old girl. Mark William Michaels was fired by the church after his June 5th arrest on felony charges that followed police catching him with the girl in a parked car a mile away from the church on Sunday morning. Church pastor Josh Matlock told NBC-4 the church would not “try to brush it under the rug.” He says, quote, “…we want to definitely care for all of those involved and all the members of our church.”
