Who was among the first African American engineer hired by DC, becoming the Urban Planner that designed Washington, DC’s Metro system? How affected by segregation were Blacks living in DC during the Renaissance? How does a Washington, DC native son become one of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen? These and many other questions are answered in my interview with William Fauntroy.

Around DC, Many know him as the brother of Civil Rights leader, Rev. Walter Fauntroy. Before I knew his name or family lineage, I knew that red blazer and hat of the Tuskegee Airmen. As I saw him walking through the halls of the radio station, I had to ask for just a few moments of his time to glean from the wisdom of his 94 years of life. Our impromptu interview did not disappoint and left me with a complete knowing that I had been in the presence of greatness. As we close out this Black History Month, enjoy one of DC’s treasures; Tuskegee Aiman, Walter Fauntroy.
