If you are going outside today, take precautions for the extreme heat that we are getting right now in the DMV.

An excessive heat warning is scheduled to be in effect from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday and an excessive heat watch remains in effect Saturday and Sunday.  The whole DMV region is under a Code Orange air quality alert.

Temperatures will be in the upper 90s today and that’s not even the Heat Index!!

Over the weekend, temperatures hovering around 100 Fahrenheit, but the heat index will be closer to 110 degrees Friday and possibly as high as 115 degrees both weekend days.

The National Weather Service says the weather conditions will be such that the high temperatures and humidity combined could “quickly cause heat stress or heat stroke if precautions are not taken.”

Especially if you are a Senior Citizen, the age of people most vulnerable, if you are going out, please be extremely careful as it will be dangerously hot.

If you have pets, make sure to bring them inside where it’s cool, because this heat is dangerous even for the animals.
