UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE: Personal interests and selfish ambitions can lead to controversies that threaten our relationships. How can people overcome their divisiveness? Paul commended the example of Christ, who humbly emptied Himself in order to serve God and others through His sacrifice.
CONCLUDING REFLECTION: As long as there are people in the world, there will be those who try to one-up others. The defective gene of sin and selfishness often takes a terrible toll on human relationships. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ calls for us to be empowered by the Holy Spirit and thus to exhibit and reflect the personal characteristics of the Holy Spirit.
PRAYER: Lord, let the mind that was in Christ Jesus also be in us. As we interact with others, may the sweet fragrance of the Holy Spirit permeate our interactions and confirm to others that we have been with Jesus. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
