In the early 90s, he embarked on a gospel music career that would eventually change the look of the genre. He bridged the Christian faith with pop culture and helped open God’s healing doors to people who otherwise may not have given “church” a chance. Working with artists like Salt-n-Peppa, Whitney Houston, Lecrae, Kanye West, Tori Kelly, Chance the Rapper and more, he showed how faith is in your heart, not just a building. And it’s ok to reach people where they are through a spin of entertainment grounded in Jesus.

Since releasing his first album, Kirk Franklin & The Family (1993), which topped gospel charts for almost two years straight, Kirk Franklin has gone on to release 14 more albums including those with The Family and Nu Nation choirs he created. Fusing untraditional music styles along the way, he also became the first gospel artist to have a music video played on MTV.

Hailing as the biggest selling gospel artist in sound scan history (over 10 million albums sold), Kirk Franklin has earned over 10 Grammys, over 40 Stellar awards, over 15 Dove awards, 12 NAACP Image awards and three BET awards.
