That night the area got a chance to witness one of the greatest openings in DC area history.
There was a VIP pre-opening celebration that included all VIP’s and dignitaries from all walks of life. I was blessed to have been among the VIP’s dressed in a tuxedo for the grand opening.
That night for the VIP opening, everything was free, all food, beverages and snacks!! It was a capacity crowd of who’s who.

It cost $1.4 Billion to build.
It employs 3,700 people.
45% of those employed live in Prince George’s County
MGM is the County’s leading tax provider.
MGM said that its hotel has reached capacity 242 nights since opening and has, to date, had 6 million visitors.
MGM is not attracting just gamblers. It, like its competition in Maryland, has positioned itself as a broader entertainment destination.
It’s got 15 retail stores, 12 food and beverage outlets, a world-class hotel, spa and salon
It’s made $180 million in the Third Quarter alone.
