“Certainly I will go with you,” said Deborah. “But because of the course you are taking, the honor will not be yours, for the LORD will deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman.” So Deborah went with Barak to Kedesh.

UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:
People called to be leaders may doubt their capabilities. How do leaders deal with their doubts? Barak willingly went into battle after the prophetess Deborah agreed to accompany him.
CONCLUDING REFLECTION:
It is obvious through reading the book of Judges that God is not a God of a second chance, but of many chances. However, if we are to be spiritually successful, then we must at some point move away from the insane cycle of performing the same actions while expecting different results. God has the power to use anything or anybody as an instrumental participant in His kingdom purposes. God does not just seek those who are able, but those who are available to be used for His glory. Are you 100 percent available?
PRAYER:
Lord, please forgive us for sometimes being so hardheaded. Forgive us for not learning from our previous mistakes or the mistakes of others. Please open our eyes to all the possibilities around us. Give us discernment to listen and heed the voice of your Spirit when you give us instruction. Help us to obey your voice even when your instructions come through a vessel that may seem somewhat unconventional. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Barak – Barak is an African name meaning “blessed.” It is a form of both the Hebrew name Baruch and the Arabic name Mubarak, which also means “blessed” and relates to the Arabic barakah.
