Bishop Eddie Long, the Pastor of the Atlanta, Ga. Megachurch – New Birth Missionary Baptist has died at the age of 63 in Atlanta.

His Church New Birth issued a statement to the Atlanta Journal Constitution Newspaper that Bishop Long died from an aggressive form of cancer.

Bishop Eddie Long at one point was the Pastor of over 25,000 at New Birth before some serious allegations of financial mishandling and allegations of sexual misconduct.

The allegations of sexual misconduct came four young men who said that “Long” coerced them into sexual relations. Bishop Long denied all allegations in a court document, but said that he was only a mentor to the four young men, but they still filed civil lawsuits against them.

There were no criminal charges filed in the cases because Georgia’s age of consent is 16. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on May 27, 2011, that the lawsuits were settled out of court but the terms and financial amounts were undisclosed. His second wife, Vanessa Griffin, filed for divorce in December of that year.
