UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:
People are aware that rivers give life and nourishment to the things that exist around them. How do rivers nourish our lives? According to John, in the new world, God’s power will be in the river and will nourish and heal everything in the city.
CONCLUDING REFLECTION:
The New Jerusalem and the new heaven and the new earth remind us that God is always leading us into new spheres of reality that will ultimately make our lives better.
The lesson teaches us the importance of the faithfulness and trustworthiness of God’s Word. His Word can be trusted, and it will be fulfilled. Christians live with the constant hope and expectation that God’s will and purpose to save believers from all parts of the human race is going to finally come to fruition. We may not live to see the final act of all that God wills and purposes for our lives, but that is never a reason to lose hope or assume that God’s will is going to be hindered.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, we praise your name for the blessing of eternal life. Thank you for the promise that one day we will behold you face-to-face. Grant us the courage to remain faithful until that day. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
