MAY 17, 1942 – “Bluesman” – “TAJ MAHAL” – was born. The New Yorker was a University of Massachusetts graduate in animal husbandry but was more drawn to blues singing and was a regular performer at the Fillmore East and West, as well as the Newport Jazz Festival.
