In the age of struggle, the fight for freedom, the way the narrative plays can pander for or against the oppressed. This struggle is always constant; however, where the media chooses to cast light and shadows, is imperative, influential, and effective.
Shetamia Taylor, 37, was with her four sons, ages 12 to 17, whom she brought with her to teach them about peaceful protesting. It was there, when a rogue shooter opened fire, that she acted as a human shield for her 15-year-old son.
On Thursday, 5 officers were fatally shot, while 6 people were injured at a protest over two recent fatal police shootings. Images reminiscent of the '60s have flooded the nation, as we endured a week of unfiltered violence.
It's unclear if the protest is directly related to the shooting.
