(Washington, DC) — Faith-based groups involved in the initiative called “40 Days for Health Reform” in support of President Obama?s health care plan are observing this weekend as “Health Care Sermon Weekend.” Baptist Press says the organizations involved in the initiative are attempting to frame health care as a moral issue. Some of the groups involved include, Sojourners, PICO National Network and Faith in Public Life.

The Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission called the health care reform bill “dangerous.” An analysis by the ERLC concluded, quote, “…that this legislation will lead to diminished health care for most Americans, less choice, higher taxes, and unprecedented government intrusion into every level and aspect of society, from business, to education, to marriage, to individual liberty.”
