A suspected serial killer, indicted in Prince George’s County on multiple murder charges, is due in federal court Wednesday. Jason Thomas Scott will be in court on an earlier indictment on carjacking and gun charges and the sexual exploitation of a minor.

Scott, 27, of Upper Marlboro is a former UPS worker whom Prince George’s County’ police chief says is a methodical serial killer.

Scott is charged with with two counts of first-degree murder in the March 2009 slayings of nurse Delores Dewitt and her 20-year-old student daughter, Ebony. The two women were found in a burning car that had been stolen.

Police say those killings are linked to a January 2009 slaying of Karen Lofton, another Prince George’s County nurse, and her daughter Karissa Lofton, a student.

The Loftons were found shot to death inside their locked Largo home.

Scott also is suspected in other burglaries and home invasion-robberies across the country, authorities say.

An FBI profiler had concluded last year that the two slayings weren’t connected. Police say Scott masked his crimes to throw off investigators.

Before he was formally identified, Prince George’s County Police Chief Roberto Hylton called Scott “one of America’s most infamous killers.”

Hylton said Scott has murdered at least five people, including the two women and their daughters.

Before the indictment was announced, Scott’s attorney said he was not aware how police linked the killings to his client.
