(Baltimore, MD) — Tyler Perry is donating $1 million dollars to the NAACP. The gift from the filmmaker, writer and actor is the largest ever given by an individual entertainer to the civil rights organization. The donation will be distributed over the next four years and was made to mark the NAACP’s 100th anniversary. In a statement, Perry says he feels “honored and blessed” to be able to give to the group. NAACP officials say the money will support advocacy programs on economic equality, education, health care and criminal justice. Based in Baltimore, the NAACP is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization.
