After months of investigations in a case that really brought tears to people in Prince George’s County that did not even know Ashanti Billie; there has been an arrest in the case as confirmed by the F.B.I.

FBI said 45-year-old Eric Brian Brown, a retired Navy veteran, kidnapped Ashanti Billie after she arrived for work at the Blimpie’s in Hampton, Va. and killed her.

According to court documents, Brown was working as a day laborer and participated in the construction of the Blimpie’s over the summer.  Brown, who spent 21 years in the Navy, was reportedly homeless and spent time living at random buildings on and off the base.

FBI said that after talking to employees at Blimpie’s, they confirmed that Eric Brown would visit Ashanti Billie almost every day and on several occasions.

A surveillance camera captured Ashanti Billie’s car pulling up to a construction dumpster in Norfolk at about 5:45 a.m., and a few hours later, officials said construction workers found Ashanti Billie’s cellphone in the dumpster.

FBI said that Brown drove Ashanti Billie’s car to Charlotte and several people have confirmed that they had seen the car in various locations and neighborhoods.  Her body was found September 29th behind a Church where Brown attended vacation Bible school at the church as a child.

Eric Brown’s DNA was found on pieces off Ashanti Billie’s clothing.   He has been charged with kidnapping and, if convicted, faces life in prison.
