Wells Fargo Bank has a program where they will allow customers to design their own debit card.

But a Baltimore City School Teacher wanted to design her card with something she felt was important.  So what was import to her was the Black Lives Matter movement.

Rachel Nash who is 29, designed her card with the words “BLACK LIVES MATTER” on it and the picture of a clinched fist.  Nash who is white said she has been with BLACK LIVES MATTER since the death of Baltimore Native Freddie Gray died in Police Custody.

Well Fargo rejected the design saying that the company policy prohibits political and trademarked or copyrighted images.

Ms. Nash fired back saying that “Black Lives Matter” is not a trademarked brand.  She said that  the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has rejected application to trademark “Black Lives Matter” for clothing sales sales because the slogan is commonly used in rallies associated with civil rights and protesting violence.
