In a time when Montgomery County’s voting demographics were much different, Isiah “Ike” Leggett won the election and became Montgomery County’s top employee — The County Executive.  Since that time he’s run two more times and won and has served Montgomery County with dignity and honor but says after three terms he will not run for a fourth Term.

Ike Leggett who is 71 made the announcement at a political fundraiser over the weekend, but didn’t make any allegations as to what he will do next if anything.

The Washington Post reports that this leaves the field open for others who’ve had their eye on the job: council members Roger Berliner; George Leventhal; Marc Elrich; Nancy Floreen; and Craig Rice,

Leggett is the first and only African American to hold the Position as Montgomery County Executive.
