After numerous reports about the Tragic Explosion on Thursday morning at the Flower Branch Apartments, Police and Fire Officials are still at a loss over the number of people unaccounted for.  It was reported that 16 people had perished in the Blaze just off Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring, but after a full day of sunlight, there are still some people that have not been located, even with search dogs.

At first, I was trying to figure out exactly where the Flower Branch Apartment Building  was located; but after leaving The Radio-One Studio’s on Thursday morning, it was apparent that it was somewhere close to my route, but to my surprise it’s on the the exact street that I travel!!  To see this devastation is something that one might only see once or twice in a lifetime.  What I saw yesterday was something that I hope I’d never have to see again in life.  This Apartment Building explosion reminded me of the Pentagon on 9/11; it was just that bad.

The search for missing bodies was suspended overnight for safety reasons, for fear of building collapsing and will resume first thing this Morning.

Police & Fire Fighters are having a slight problem with communicating with the residents because the Flower Branch Apartment Building is completely full with Hispanic residents that only speak Spanish, but those that speak Spanish & English are stepping up to act as Translators.

Officials are asking members of the public with information about the whereabouts of building residents or the incident itself to contact police by using the county’s 311 system or by calling 240-777-0311.
