After being taunted and publicly demised by South African rival Chad le Clos earlier in the afternoon, Baltimore’s Michael Phelps repaid the favor by winning the Gold Medal in the 200-meter butterfly going head to head.  Phelps won the Gold while le Clos didn’t even win a medal in that race.  For le Clos it was sort of embarrasing after he had defeated Phelps in London in 2012 to win the Gold; but today it all belonged to “The Greatest” Olympic swimmer.

Phelps from Baltimore is the most successful Olympian in the history of the games — now has an unprecedented 21 Gold Medals.

Another Maryland Native Katie Ledecky is dominating the Gold Rush on the Female side, wining her second gold medal in the 400-meter freestyle beating  Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom and Australia’s Emma McKeon in a three-way race.    That was Ledecky’s second gold medal with the possibility of getting more.

The Olympics continue on today.
