Darrell Best of D.C.’s God of a Second Chance Ministries was sentenced to 18 years for sexually abusing two teenaged girls.

A former D.C. cop and pastor convicted of sex abuse and child pornography was slapped with an 18-year prison sentence on Friday.

A tearful Darrell Best apologized for his actions before he was given the sentence by federal judge Reggie B. Walton while the families of his young victims were in court.

Best, 46, was arrested and charged in March after abusing at least two teenage girls, ages 16 and 17, who attended the Southeast Washington church where he preached.

Investigators found that the 25-year-old police veteran abused one of the girls at the Metropolitan police headquarters on at least one occasion and the other girl at the Southeast D.C. church where Best served as a head pastor.

Best admitted that he abused one of the teenaged girls at his D.C. church where he was a head pastor.

Cops began investigating the abuse after Best’s fiancée found a photo on his phone of one of the girls and confronted the teen, who told her parents.

The discovery of the explicit photo resulted in a child pornography charge.

“I am hopeful the sentencing today provides some measure of comfort for these victims and their families,” D.C. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier said in a statement released after the sentencing, according to the  Washington Post.

“Mr. Best used the trust he had built within the community, as a pastor and a police officer, to take advantage of those who relied on him.”
