A couple saw the boy and texted McAlpine.
That same day, McAlpine also had a problem regarding her younger son. The 5-year-old was dropped off at the correct stop, but was dropped off alone, in violation of Prince George’s County rules for a child of his age. A neighbor saw him and walked him home.
In addition, WJLA is reporting that 3-year-old Symphani Bracey was never dropped off at a babysitter’s house after early childhood care in Bowie on Thursday.
Symphani, who has special needs and is asthmatic, was supposed to be dropped off in Lanham at 12:30, but never showed up. Her mother called the bus depot, who said Symphani was never on the bus. She then called the school, who said the 3-year-old had boarded the bus.
The bus driver later said that he couldn’t find her address, so he dropped off the other kids on the bus at their homes before dropping her at a bus lot.
Symphani’s grandparents said they were very frightened in the two hours before she was found, and Prince George’s County Public Schools says that the bus driver should’ve called in.
“We deeply regret the error and want to assure the school community we are taking measure to make sure our students continue to be transported in a safe and timely manner,” the school district said in a statement.
Earl Bracey, Symphani’s grandfather, was livid.
“When they can’t find somebody, address it right there; don’t wait until the last minute,” he said. “I’m not happy the way it went down. I’m happy that she’s here.”
These incidents come after a 4-year-old was put on the wrong bus Tuesday in Fort Washington.
