dorinda clark cole-2Several Christian reality stars have proven to be an embarrassment to the church in a major way.

But GRAMMY® award-winning gospel artist and Oxygen’s Preachers of Detroit star, Dorinda Clark-Cole, said she won’t be engaging in any “stupid” behavior.

In a recent interview with the Yolanda Adams Morning Show, Clark-Cole said “On Preachers of Detroit, I know it’s a message that we are given. I told God, I said ‘Lord, you can trust me with this. I’m not gone do nothing stupid.’”

Some people have expressed skepticism according to her cousin and fellow recording artist, J. Moss, who recently told Sister 2 Sister Magazine, “She’s going to catch backlash from it. It’s already started, online chatter. You know, ‘Why did she do this?'”

He added, “If she wasn’t ready for this type of show, then she shouldn’t have signed up.”

According to Clark-Cole, who is actively promoting her new album Living It, she is both ready and aware of what is at stake with such a high profile show.

“My integrity is on the line,” she said. “I’ve got a lot of supporters and those that have even purchased my album already. I don’t want to let my people down, so I have to be very, very wise at how I go about everything.”

While it is no secret that gospel artists are jumping on the reality TV bandwagon for promotional purposes, Clark-Cole maintains that, for her and her cast members, the job is ministry-related.

“I believe that God has allowed us to be the gatekeepers for the city, [so] that we can revive the city and bring it back spiritually.”
