Empire debuted on Fox Wednesday night and you know what that means – Black Twitter was out in full force to give their seal of approval or not to the show.
Created by Butler director Lee Daniels, Empire reunites Hustle and Flow co-stars Taraji P. Hensonand Terrence Howard as exes with a loooong personal history.
Henson returns to her family after 17 years in jail and seems to be channeling Mama Pope with Diana Ross’ 70’s wardrobe. Howard is a record mogul who seems to be a composite of Diddy and Suge Knight so far, but with an ALS diagnosis.
(Side note and no disrespect to those actually suffering from this dreadful disease, but when did this relatively rare disease become so popular?)
A look at the premiere had us wondering when Power was coming back, but of course, Black Twitter summed things up with the usual dose of snark and humor.
We’re not sure yet if this is a hit or miss, but here were some of the best live tweets of the night.
