The preacher known to millions as Reverend Ike has died. Reverend Frederick Eikerenkoetter passed away Tuesday in a Los Angeles hospital. He was 74. Reverend Ike’s ministry was known for preaching the gospel of prosperity, which made him rich off donations. He was often to known to boast that, quote, “My garages runneth over.” He suffered a stroke two years ago and never fully recovered, according to a family spokesperson. At the height of his ministry, Reverend Ike’s sermons were carried by more than 17-hundred radio stations and heard by an estimated two and a half million followers. The South Carolina native preached for a brief period of time in Boston before moving on to New York where he went on to make a name for himself.
