The daughter of a prominent minister in Prince George’s County who stole $95,000 in cash from him was sentenced yesterday to 15 weekends in jail after pleading guilty to a theft charge, prosecutors said.
Sharon M. Mitchell, 45, the daughter of John Cherry, pastor of From the Heart Ministries, pleaded guilty to one count of theft over $500, authorities said. Mitchell, who had been doing clerical work for her father, stole the cash from a safe in his home, according to a statement of facts read in court as part of Mitchell’s plea deal.
In addition to the weekends in jail, Mitchell was sentenced to repay the money by making restitution payments of at least $200 a month, and was placed on five years’ probation, officials said.
