At a time when xenophobia has reached an all-time high in the U.S., Denver Broncos linebacker
Brandon Marshall last week shared hate mail on his Instagram account, reports the
New York Daily News.
The NFL player, who joined San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in his kneeling protest movement for racial and social justice in September, received the hate-filled letter two weeks ago, writes the news outlet:
The letter calls Marshall – a key member of the Broncos defense that carried the franchise to a third Super Bowl title in February – “worthless” and suggests he “go back to Africa.”
Along with the racist language, the sickening letter also includes a clear threat to the NFL player.
“Your time is coming, watch out n—–!!”
Broncos team officials turned the letter over to the NFL, and the league has opened an investigation, reports KUSA in Denver.
