Reached by phone on Sunday morning, Cora Masters Barry, widow of Marion Barry, said she was not prepared to talk about the younger Barry’s death. “It is very difficult for me right now,” she said.

Trayon White, the Democratic nominee for the Ward 8 council seat, and a protege of the senior Barry, called Marion Christopher Barry a friend who will be missed.

Rest in peace, Marion Christopher Barry.
