(Washington, DC)  —  The dedication of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial is underway in Washington, DC. Opening the event, the Reverend Bernice King, the daughter of Martin Luther King, Jr., highlighted the long road to making the memorial a reality.

President Obama will speak at today’s dedication.   In addition to Obama, civil rights leaders Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will speak at the event, and Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin will perform.
