(Upper Marlboro, MD) — Assault charges against a local college student will be dropped in Prince George’s County now that prosecutors know the officer who made the arrest is also charged with assault in the same incident. Officer Dominque Richardson showed up in court last week to testify in the case against Steven Morales. But Richardson was indicted back in March, accused of attacking Morales in the same incident. The problem is police didn’t know it, and prosecutors didn’t either. Richardson ended up not testifying. He also didn’t have permission to file charges against Morales and was in court for his own charges later in the week.
