VIA ELEV8:

By Cheryl Hudson

Are you searching for love in your life?  Have you tried dating, the internet, blind dates, and even dating in the dark still finding yourself hopelessly still searching?  Maybe you believe you can find true love on the Internet.  Imagine yourself clicking on a button and instantaneously, you find love!!  While that sounds good, it’s not likely to happen.

What is it about us that makes us want love so badly?  No person who is truthful, can say that they have not had a desire to be loved. God built that desire into us automatically.  Imagine if you could design a person to love you:  you’d give all of the physical characteristics, the emotional standards as well as the psychological and mental aspects of the person’s character.  Well, unfortunately, your “ideal mate” does not exist.  Every person in creation has flaws and inconsistencies as well as mistakes and mishaps.  We sometimes have such high expectations for love, that no person could ever meet them.

So knowing that our ideal mate does not exist could cause us to lose hope and to become indifferent toward love and think we will never find the kind of love we are searching for. But don’t let it happen.  Continue to search for and seek out love, just make sure that it’s true love that you seek.  What do I mean by true love?

Love is by definition:

A strong feeling of affection, devotion, and concern for another.

Have you ever wished for a love so overwhelming that it could literally take your breath away?  Have you contemplated being so much in love that nothing else matters?  Imagine having a love so deep that it makes you cry uncontrollably just thinking about the sacrifices made for you?  How about a love that causes you to be a better person and allows you to mess up over and over and as long as you ask for forgiveness, you’re forgiven.  Wow, Sounds great right…and almost too good to be true!  But it’s not!  The love I am speaking about is not the love any man can give you.  I’m not speaking of physical intimacy or romantic love; I’m talking about the true love of God!!  Now before you stop reading, or move on with a ‘Yeah, right” on your lips, please know that you clicked on this link for a reason.  Either you really are seeking love, or you are curious.  In either case, the love you are seeking begins with the love of God.  God loves you more than any person ever could.  His love is eternal. If there is emptiness in your heart for love, God is ready to fill it!  All you have to do is earnestly ask him for it and He will give it to you!

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him shall have everlasting life.”

1 John 4:7-8 says, “Beloved let us love one another.  For love is of God and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God.  He that loveth not, knoweth not God for God is love.”

So true love begins with the love of God!!  It’s only after accepting God’s love that we can love others.  God gives us the ability and capacity as well as the desire to love others.  His love is everlasting and does not require our works.  His love is a free gift to us but His son is the one who paid the price for it.  Quite a heavy price too!  Imagine if you committed a crime and the punishment was that you would be beaten mercilessly until you died and someone came along and said, “I’ll take your punishment for you.”  Well that’s what Jesus did. He took our punishment.  Now that’s love!!
