(Annapolis, MD)  –A House committee is expected to approve a bill legalizing same-sex marriage in Maryland later today  .  The House Judiciary Committee has been discussing the bill since Friday.  It’s expected to pass there, and go on to the full House of Delegates, where the final vote is expected to be tight.  That vote could come as soon as Thursday.  If it ends up clearing the legislature, Govenor O’Malley is expected to sign it into law.  But even then, opponents of gay marriage would probably get enough voter signatures to put the new law on hold until a referendum can be held in 2012.
