Seeing Redd, LLC, the production company officially collaborating with the Estate of Redd Foxx, announced that music icon Tip T.I. Harris, director Bill Duke, and producer Roger M. Bobb have joined forces for an estate-approved biopic titled Seeing Redd. The project will chronicle the life of the legendary comedian and social pioneer.

The partnership aims to present a riveting depiction of the journey of Foxx, highlighting his genius and his little-known influence on the evolution of television. The film focuses on his high-stakes battle against the network while filming Sanford and Son, where he demanded that Black writers and directors be hired to ensure authenticity. These demands for creative control were considered unprecedented and unattainable for that era.

Tip “T.I.” Harris serves as executive producer under his Grand Hustle Films banner. Harris, who has sold over 14 million albums and recently released the hit Let ‘Em Know, considers the film deeply personal because Foxx is one of the primary reasons he first fell in love with comedy.

Director Bill Duke will provide a personal lens to the project, using his experience with dramatic depth and historical context to oversee the narrative. Duke noted that Foxx did not just change comedy, he changed the industry. He added that the courage Foxx showed behind the scenes created opportunities that still resonate today.

Roger M. Bobb, a seven-time NAACP Image Award winner and head of Bobbcat Films, joins the team as a producer. Bobb stated that working with Duke and Harris to tell the story of a man who changed how we experience comedy is a dream and that the team is not just making a movie but trying to capture the energy of a genius and an architect of change.
