Cheryl Jackson Interviews Ted & Sheri at Spirit of Praise
Cheryl Jackson Reunites with Ted & Sheri at Spirit of Praise

At the 17th Annual Spirit of Praise at Reid Temple A.M.E. Church, Cheryl Jackson met with gospel duo Ted & Sheri. Their talk was a heartfelt look back at their long ties to Washington D.C.’s gospel scene, which they consider both a major market and a second home.
Notably, Ted & Sheri’s bond with D.C. goes back over twenty years. Over the years, they recalled how their early days in the city fostered lasting, family-like relationships. Ted originally arrived for a short stay, but ultimately he made a big move after Richard Smallwood invited him to join the group Vision. That moment, coupled with Ted & Sheri’s debut, became a clear turning point in his career. Meanwhile, Sheri also spoke about her deep roots in the D.C. music scene and the ongoing support they’ve consistently received.
Additionally, both artists have found major success on their own. For instance, Sheri noted that Donald Lawrence’s “Encourage Yourself” went gold. Ted, on the other hand, has taught many in the gospel field and continues to work with Richard Smallwood.
At Spirit of Praise, Ted & Sheri were especially excited to perform for their D.C. fans again. They promised a show that would span their biggest songs, from early hits to new music, seamlessly showcasing their journey. Moreover, they revealed that they’re working on new material, clearly marking a new start for the duo. Their return was greeted with huge enthusiasm, once again showing the duo’s lasting influence and the special connection they share with their audience.
