UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE: People often wonder if they truly deserve the praise that others give them. How can we be gracious about the honors we receive? When Elizabeth called her “blessed,” Mary humbly praised God, confessing that all that had happened to her was in fulfillment of God’s great plan of redemption.
CONCLUDING REFLECTION: The greater our humility, the greater our spiritual ability to become whatever God has created us to become. God blessed Mary to carry the Christ-child, and Elizabeth and her unborn child recognized the presence of Christ within Mary. Likewise, when we receive Christ we are also blessed, and people recognize the power of God that is within us.
PRAYER: Lord, let us receive your presence in our lives, and let us carry your power to impact our world for your glory. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
