MARYLAND HAS NEW LAWS THAT’S IN EFFECT THAT YOU DIDN’T HEAR ABOUT – HERE ARE A FEW OF THEM

If you are not a participant in Maryland Politics, let me tell you that there are a few new laws that have taken affect that you must know about.
Some of these new laws will probably affect every family at some point.
One of the new laws will affect every teenager who buy e-cigarettes or regular cigarettes. Maryland’s law increases the buying age for tobacco from 18 to 21 for everyone except active-duty members of the military.
Maryland, DC and 14 other states have all increases the age of buying cigarettes.
PRINCE GOERGE’S DELEGATE DERECK DAVIS: “The goal is to try to keep it out of the hands of kids as long as possible.” “The longer we can keep it out of their hands, the more we can prevent them from being lifetime users.”
Another new change in DMV laws: The D.C. Circulator bus will no longer be free. Rides will cost $1. The Mayor says it’s costing the District entirely too much money.
No sales tax will be charged on the sale of diapers in the city, now that a 2016 law is fully implemented.
And sugary drinks — including some juices and iced coffee drinks — will now be subject to as much as a 10 percent tax.
All Maryland public schools will be required to spend part of one day each year during Black History Month teaching about two of the state’s most storied figures and their contributions to ending slavery: Harriet Tubman, and Frederick Douglass, the famed orator,
Another new law in Maryland requires all state-owned public buildings must now have diaper-changing facilities in bathrooms.
In the “Hate Crime Department,” Maryland lawmakers decided it should be a crime to threaten someone, not just to carry one out a hate crimet. Threatening a hate crime will now be a misdemeanor offense.
