Is the Jury System fair; maybe sometimes it not!!! A lady in Baltimore named “Makia Smith” thought she had the right to video a Police Arrest with her cell phone, but according to Baltimore Police – she doesn’t. She was arrested for filming the arrest and also said she was beaten.
A Baltimore Jury sided with the Baltimore Police and found Ms. Smith guilty; but a three Judge panel in the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has sided with Ms. Smith and has granted her a new trial.
During the trial, Baltimore Prosecutors brought up her previous arrests during cross examination and the Appeals Court said by bringing up her pass created an “Enormous” risk of prejudice.
So at this point, Makia Smith is still innocent until she is proven guilty.
