Every year U.S. News and World Report puts together a national ranking of the Best Colleges & Universities in the U.S. and two schools here in the DMV made significant jumps in the rankings.  Howard University’s national ranking saw the biggest jump of any school rated this year – they jumped 11 slots.  Catholic University also made a significant jump.  Howard University, Catholic University and three other schools tie for the 124th best Colleges & Unversities in America.

The rankings are based, in part, on class size, freshman retention, graduation rates and faculty resources.  Howard also ranked No. 2 among historically black colleges, according to the 2017 report released on Tuesday.  Spelman College ranked No. 1.
