According to Bloomberg, White House spokesman Eric Schultz said the president burned the midnight oil last night to prepare his speech.
Mr. Obama’s comments will focus on Hillary Clinton’s “judgment, toughness, and intellect,” Bloomberg reported. He will also discuss the accomplishments of his administration — particularly the economic recovery.
The president will also talk about his efforts to change America’s image in the world, which Clinton contributed to as his secretary of state.
While the president’s goal is to rally support for Clinton, his legacy looms large in the background, NPR writes. So Mr. Obama will likely defend his presidency and make a case for continuing similar policies under a Hillary Clinton administration.
The president could also “provide the missing link” that the Democratic nominee needs, NPR suggests. While Clinton has tons of policies and programs, her campaign lacks a simple unifying message like “hope and change,” which inspired voters eight years ago and carried Mr. Obama into the White House.
