Gasoline prices are failing in Washington, D.C., and the metro area. But they’re still above the national average.
AAA Mid-Atlantic reports that the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded Sunday was $2.02 in Washington. That’s two cents less than a week ago and 39 cents less than the same time last year.
In the metro area, the price was $1.81 a gallon — four cents less than a week ago and 39 cents less than a year ago.
The national average is $1.74 a gallon.
AAA says the combination of seasonal reductions in demand and lower crude oil prices are likely to keep prices down in the near term.
