Police have confirmed fatalities, Reuters reports, although the number of dead has not been specified.

Authorities are still searching for the suspects. According to the San Bernardino Sheriff, at least one suspect may have fled in a black SUV.

Police in San Bernardino, California responded to reports that 20 people were shot at a social services office Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities are searching for up to three “active shooters.” The suspects are said to be heavily armed and are possibly wearing body armor, according to San Bernardino Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Vicki Cervantes.

The social service office, which houses the Inland Regional Center, provides services to disabled adults. Shots were first reported around 11 a.m. PT.
