Is there finally good news coming out of Nigeria? It’s being reported that Nigerian troops rescued 200 girls and 93 women Tuesday in the Sambisa Forest, the Nigerian Armed Forces announced on its official Twitter account. It is still unknown whether or not any of the girls were among the initial 200 who were kidnapped by Boko Haram, the militant group who believe that Western education is a sin.

Nigerian Military Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Chris Olukolade said that the girls were rescued on Tuesday April 28th. He says that the girls were rescued against all terrorists in the Sambisa Forest. “The mission to comb the forest and every part of it is still ongoing,” Olukolade said.

The government is being very cautious about what information they’re releasing because in the past, the Nigerian government and military have been known to release falsities regarding these kidnapped girls.

We’re hoping these women and children have been rescued from Boko Haram, but given their violent history and the inability of anyone in Nigeria being able to step to the terrorist group, we’re not too sure. We’ll keep our eyes on this story and confirm soon who these women and children are.
