Don’t hate the player, hate the game (and change it)

Former NFL wife, Shanae Hall, offers a straight talk, no chaser retort to the Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man phenomenon

Players, cheaters, narcissists and smooth-talkers. When it comes to men behaving badly, ladies, it’s up to you to change their game. Setting the record straight on today’s playing field is a mother-daughter team whose combined experience in marriage, divorce, and dating has involved men from the NBA, NFL and Hollywood, to everyday, normal guys.

A resounding retort to Steve Harvey’s runaway bestseller Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man (January 2009, Amistad) and his forthcoming follow-up Straight Talk, No Chaser (November 2010, Amistad), former NFL wife turned radio and television personality, Shanae Hall passes on her relationship how-to in Why Do I Have to Think Like a Man? How to Think Like a Lady and Still Get the Man (October 2010, Farrah Gray Publishing). There is a ‘Bonus Chapter’ response to Steve Harvey’s Straight Talk, No Chaser.

With co-author (and mom) Rhonda Frost, Hall uses her signature straight talk to prove that today’s “player” mentality was fashioned, nurtured and created by the very women who chastise it. A mother-daughter look at relationships, Why Do I Have to Think Like a Man? gives readers what Harvey could not – an uncensored, woman’s view on dating.

Reasons I Outed by BFF’s Man

“It’s not the man that makes the difference, it’s how you deal with the man that makes the difference between heartbreak and a mutually beneficial situation,” says Hall, who was married to Cory Hall of the Cincinnati Bengals and Atlanta Falcons.

Why Do I Have to Think Like a Man? is based on more than 300 interviews with men and women over 25, and the authors’ own dating drama. The book reveals hold-nothing-back truths about deal breakers, commitment, baggage, intimacy, what men really want, and getting what you want in return. And to say the authors have “been there, done that” in love, sex and marriage is an understatement. They draw on their life experiences with marriage, divorce, domestic violence, single motherhood, being cheated on – and being “the other woman.”

Successful Mistresses Do What Wives Won’t

“We hope to empower all the women out there selling themselves short, hearing but not listening to the men they date, and seeing but not heeding the obvious warnings,” says Frost.

“Getting the guy isn’t about knowing how they think; it’s about dating smart, knowing what you want, and raising your standards.”
