LaVonda King, the youngest victim in last week’s horrific Metro crash, has been laid to rest.

Family and friends of LaVonda “Nikki” King gathered today at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Capitol Heights to remember the 23-year-old mother of two, who was on her way to pick up her sons from day care when the tragic accident occurred.  Rev. John Brown of Restoration Fellowship Center in Upper Marlboro spoke to an overflowing crowd of mourners who came to pay their respects to King. Numerous people eulogized King and remembered her as a kind individual with class who possessed a beautiful smile.

King, a District resident, had just opened a hair salon in Forestville the weekend before her death, and was engaged to be married. She leaves behind sons Andre, 3, and Emmanuel Jose, 2, who will be taken care of by her mother, Tawanda Brown.
