April 3rd marks 15 years since his father’s untimely death in a plane crash in Croatia.  Ron Brown is  the country’s first African-American Secretary of Commerce and first to serve as Chairman of the Democratic National Party.  His son,  at-large D.C. councilman Michael Brown pushed into legislation the historical dedication of a popular street named in our nation’s capital.

Ron Brown Way will be at 14th Street Northwest, between Constitution Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue, right near the Commerce Department where Brown served for President Bill Clinton. Gary Locke, President Obama’s Commerce secretary, attended the dedication and gave remarks.
