(Washington, DC) — The DC Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on the grounds of the Smithsonian’s Museum of Natural History near 7th Street and Constitution Avenue, Northwest. A large plume of smoke could be seen rising above the museum complex shortly before 8 a.m. So far, there are no reports of injuries and the damage appears to have been confined to an outdoor heating and ventilation unit. The fire was apparently sparked by a welding crew working on the roof.
