(Washington, DC)  —  A new Metro memorial honors workers who died in the line of duty.  The 12-foot-tall granite pylon now stands at the Metro Center station.  It’s inscribed with the names of all 26 people who died on the job in the agency’s 35-year history.  At the bottom of the memorial, the inscription reads, “Dedicated to those Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority employees who lost their lives in the line of duty.”  On Monday, people gathered as the memorial was unveiled at the Metro Center station mezzanine near 12th and “F” Streets, Northwest.
