Nearly 14-hundred Maryland state employees are taking buyouts. Last month, Governor Martin O’Malley offered workers 15-thousand-dollars and three months of health insurance to leave the state government. The voluntary separation program is expected to save the cash-strapped state 40-million-dollars next year, and prevent layoffs.
