A former NFL defensive lineman has put his skills to use in the pulpit. Delles Ray Howell performed six seasons as a defensive back with the New Orleans Saints and the New York Jets.
Now he’s known as Rev. Howell to his 150 New Light Church members in a Louisiana town east of Monroe called Wisner.
For nearly all of his 60 years, Howell has been a man of Sunday rituals; first the ritual of pro football, now as a church minister.
Howell has seen the best of what the celebrity lifestyle has to offer, as life after pro-sports. And according to the New York Times, Howell says he his humility has put him where God wants him to be.
